Modified Instructions for iMac users

If you did not purchase a third-party floppy disk drive with your iMac, you will need to modify the instructions in the Mac Webpage Design Module…

Downloading the HTML WebWeaver Lite software: (page 3.0.2 or page 3.0.6)

Follow the instructions to download HTML WebWeaver Lite to your iMac. You should not need to install Stuffit Expander since it (or similar expansion software) is already installed on your iMac.

Follow steps 1- 10

Skip steps 11- 14 (you will not move the software to a floppy disk)

Creating a "root" folder on your hard disk

  1. Double click on the iMac Hard Disk icon to open it on the desktop.
  2. Click on the File menu
  3. Select New from the menu that appears.
  4. Select Folder
  5. Name the folder root

Downloading the files that you will need for the TEC 2008 Webpage Design Module

  1. Connect to the internet and open your web browser
  2. Navigate to http://www.josts.net/tec2008/imac
  3. A directory of files will appear on the screen
  4. Click on each file to open it in your web browser.
  5. From the File menu, select Save As
  6. Navigate to the root folder that you created on your hard drive
  7. Save the files into the root folder.
  8. Close your web browser and log off the internet.

Opening the HTML WebWeaver Lite 3.0.1 Application (page 3.0.5)

  1. Click on the iMac's hard disk icon
  2. Navigate to the HTML WebWeaver folder.
  3. Open the folder.
  4. Double click on the HTML Web Weaver Lite 3.0.1 icon.
  5. When the title screen appears, click on the Demo button.
  6. When the Untitled.html window appears you are ready for Activity 1

Saving your webpage (Page 3.1.4)

Instead of saving the file to the floppy disk, you will select the root folder on the iMac's hard disk as the destination into which the file will be saved.

Embellishing your Simple Webpage (page 3.2.1)

Instead of opening the floppy disk, you will navigate to the root folder on your iMac's hard disk.

The HR4.GIF and New_STAR.GIF files that you downloaded earlier should already be in the root folder on your hard disk.

Converting A Bookmarks/Favorites List into a Curriculum-Specific Webpage (pages 3.4.1 - 3.4.17)

If you are using Netscape or Internet Explorer, export your bookmarks/favorites to the root folder on your iMac's hard drive instead of to a floppy disk.

If you are using the AOL web browser, you will need to use the Alternate method described on page 3.4.11. the cswp.html file that you will need is one that you downloaded and saved to the root folder earlier.

Follow the instructions, remembering to save your work to the root folder on your hard disk.

Creating a Frontpage for your Website (page 3.6.1)

If you need a template for the fpage.html file, you will find that in the files that you downloaded when you created your root folder.
