Configuring Netscape for Stuffit Expander

Note: It is assumed that you have installed Stuffit Expander on your Hard Disk prior to initiating this
procedure.
Follow these step-by-step procedures to configure Netscape Navigator for use with Stuffit Expander.
- Open Netscape Navigator.
- Hold down the mouse button while you click on Options from the menu bar on the top of the screen.
- Select General Preferences.
- Click on the Helpers tab on the screen that appears.
- When the list appears, scroll down the list until you see the three entries ending in hqx ,
sit , and bin on the right side of
the screen.
- Click once on the entry ending in hqx to select that item (it will turn blue).
- Click on the Browse button (near the middle of the screen.)
- Find the Stuffit Expander 4.0.1 Folder on the Hard Disk.
- Double-click on this folder to open it.
- Double-click on Stuffit Expander.
- The Helpers screen will reappear.
- Click on Launch Application in the Action row at the bottom of the screen.
- Click on the Apply button.
- Now, select the row of text ending with sit .
- Click on the Browse button again. (this time it should go directly back to the Stuffit Expander
folder.)
- Double-click on Stuffit Expander.
- Click on the Launch Application button.
- Click on Apply.
- Now, select the row ending in bin .
- Again, click on Browse and select Stuffit Expander from the Stuffit
folder.
- Click on Launch Application and Apply.
- Click on OK when you are finished.
- Reopen the Options/Helpers screen and scroll down to the hqx, sit and bin entries.
- You should see that Stuffit Expander is now listed as the default application that will be launched
whenever a hqx, sit
or bin file is encountered.
- From this point on, whenever you download a file from the World Wide Web using Netscape, Stuffit Expander
will
automatically open to unstuff the file and place it on your desktop.
