AHS encourages students to select a topic of personal importance and also includes a Big6 Problem Solving Approach.  There are details about Big 6 as well as suggestions for finding information and some questions to look over before submitting the project.

The AHS Senior Project has five components—employability portfolio, scholarly paper, project, reflective letter, and presentation.  Each component has a page that describes it in detail.  The home page answers the what? who? and why? of the project and includes Washington State’s learning goals.

Student Lee Williams created this website for his senior project.  It includes the philosophy and goals of the project as well as criteria for the research paper, physical project, and presentation.  Sample topics, projects, and project proposals are included to help other seniors get started.  There is even a link for senior projects on Web.

The Southern Regional Education Board has created a handbook for senior projects.  The downloadable handbook includes evaluation sheets for the research paper and presentation, timelines, parent permission forms, and student activities checklist.

It is a detailed website for students, parents and community members.  Most of the pages are from the student handbook—interview form, mentor consent form, portfolio checklist.  If they have questions, the senior project coordinator’s phone number and e-mail address are also listed.

The site has guidelines and rubrics for the project, paper, portfolio, and presentation. Internships can be arranged for seniors who want to explore a career option.  Forms are also available for parental consent and mentor information.  It is very detailed but purely text based with no graphics.
