Building a Mini-Website

After you have created several of your own webpages, you may find it helpful to link them all together with an index page.  Here's how to do that:

  1. Create a new webpage with Netscape Composer.

  2. Save the new page with the file name index in your "web" folder/directory. Important note:  Be sure to save the index page in the same directory as the rest of your webpages or this may not work.

  3. Enter the titles of the other webpages you have created somewhere on your index page.

  4. Drag across each title while holding down the mouse button to select the text.

  5. Click on the Link button

  6. When the dialog box appears, click on Choose File

  7. Navigate to the location where your other webpages were saved.

  8. Click once on the name of the webpage you want to link to your selected text.

  9. Click on Open.

  10. Click on OK.   Netscape Composer will automatically create the link from your index page to your other webpage.

  11. Repeat the steps above for each of the links you wish to build.

  12. Save the index page when you have finished.

  13. Click on the Preview button to test your links on your new mini-website.

You can access your mini-website from the floppy disk / hard drive, set it as the homepage of your web browser or upload it to the World Wide Web.
